Overview

2nd & 6th Circles of Hell describes either a dystopian or utopian future. It depends on your point of view. It asks, when does life begin? Is it when a child can understand algebra as in Philip K. Dick's The Pre-Persons? Is it when a Roman father looks at the newborn daughter laid at his feet and her life begins when he picks her up? If not she's left out for the wolves to eat. Is it when a baby takes its first breath? Is it the sixth week of pregnancy when the fetal brain starts to send impulses? Is it at the moment of conception? Is it when a fourteen year old girl at a rock concert decides she wants to have the drummer's baby? This book asks, what is sex? Is it only an act of intercourse between a man and a woman? Is everything else not sex? Or is sex anything that starts one, two or more down a slippery slope toward intercourse? Is petting sex? Is kissing sex? Is holding hands sex? Jon Cochran, a man with a secret, a Prophet, introduces a more conservative view of life. At the same time Jon frees people of the guilt, jealousy and angst pervading sex. Delilah Green, a Christian Pastor, holds to a traditional view of both the beginning of life and sex. She is appalled and disgusted by Jon's ideas. Separated by two hundred years and disparate views they joust for control of the truth. One of them wins, one loses. Or did they both win? Or did they both lose?
